Native Heart Homeschool Community Center was created by
Fluvanna County local Sarah Wilson Segar. Sarah is a Level 3
Forest School Leader, local homeschool community teacher,
and mother of two homeschool children. Native Heart was
created as a space for local homeschoolers ages 6-18, to come
together for socialization and learning.


Native Heart offers extra curricular group classes with a hands
on interactive focus. Classes include S.T.E.M., Art, Creative
Writing and Storytelling, Nature Studies, Culinary, Physical
Education and more. All classes are inclusive no matter
religion, race, or sexual orientation.


Class instruction is provided by certified teachers and/or local
homeschool parents.

SUMMER CAMPS


Week 1: June 16th - 20th 9:00AM - 2:00PM AGES: 6-18

Food Trucks $350

Students will get to meet with a few local food truck vendors. Students will then break into groups to create their
own mock food truck business. They will design their logo, learn to brand, market and budget, create and test
recipes, learn about food safety, and more. At the end of the week the students will serve their families and fellow
students.


Week 2: July 7th - 11th 9:00AM - 2:00PM AGES: 6-18

Small Business $350

Similar to the Food Truck week, students will get to meet with a few local small businesses. Students will then
break into groups to create their own mock small business. They will decide on a product to sell, design their
logo, learn to brand, market and budget, create and test prototypes, learn about business management, and
more. At the end of the week we will hold a small business market where the students will "sell" to their families
and fellow students.


Week 3: July 28th - Aug 1st 9:00AM - 2:00PM AGES: TEEN

Bush Craft $350

Students will learn bush craft and survival skills over this one week camp. There will be small game processing
and hide tanning, fire building/starting, structure building, ethical trapping techniques, foraging and wild food
processing and safe handling, an more. This summer camp will be run by a certified level 3 forest school
instructor.


Full Semester Tuition for 1 day per week - $200 (Tuesday or
Thursday)


Full Semester Tuition for 2 days per week - $400 (Tuesday and
Thursday)


We offer an instructor incentive discount of 100% two day
tuition for a single child.


Instructors will be supplied with a full curriculum, class outline,
supplies, and any support additional support needed to fulfill
their duties. Background checks are run on all instructors and
site administrators.

Tuition & Opportunities

Current Class List for Winter Term

Art - Our Art class will encompass many forms of artistic expression. From sculpting, fine line drawing, painting with numerous
mediums, to creating art with mathematical shapes and so much more. This class is intended to help build confidence, foster creativity,
develop fine motor skills, assist in decision making and concentration.



Culinary - Culinary Arts class will cover baking, cooking, presentation and decorating. We will work on basic skills all the way up to a fine
dining presentation. Students will discover unique ingredients, learn about the geographical origins of dishes, participate in fun bake
offs and team building competitions and more. Culinary class helps to build confidence, creativity, fine motor skills, and more.



Creative Writing and Storytelling - Students at Native Heart will practice creative writing and storytelling, from prompts, photos, songs,
poems and more. Free form creative writing builds confidence, creativity, assists with reading and writing skills, helps to develop self
expression, communication and problem solving skills. The storytelling aspect of this class is meant to encourage students' public
speaking skills and confidence.



Physical Education - Our physical education class will cover physical activity and proper exercise techniques. Students will play team
games and skill based activities, like kickball, beanbag balance, jump rope, and soccer, learn yoga and meditation poses, learn about
healthy food options, more. Reproductive health will not be discussed.




S.T.E.M. - Our hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics class and activities will teach more than science and
mathematics concepts. Students will discover real-world applications, spark creativity, promote critical thinking, curiosity, persistence,
decision-making, leadership, entrepreneurship, acceptance of failure and more.



Reading Comprehension - Reading Comprehension class is designed to assist with reading skills, comprehension, logical reasoning, and
communication and to help students understand how to have healthy disagreements with their peers. Each class will read or read along
with many types of short stories, essays, poems, philosophical theories, and a wide range of topics. Students will be asked questions
about the story and the floor will be opened for them to discuss each piece with their classmates.



Nature Studies - Nature Studies will incorporate all aspects of a forest school, with a skill building and teamwork focus. Students will
learn fire building, whittling, foraging, knot tying, structure building, ethical trapping practices, plant and animal identification, and
more, all within a safe and certified environment.



Each class is modified to best fit each grade level.



Special art, culinary, and STEM classes will be offered by licensed educators.


100% of all donations made to Native Heart Homeschool Community Center go towards our
Scholarship program.


Full or partial scholarships are available to all who apply.


Scholarships are available on a first come first served basis.


Scholarship requests are due during the term enrollment dates.


Scholarship requests will be reviewed and funds will be applied as received.


We do ask that you consider requesting partial scholarships when able, so that we can assist as
many students as possible.
